Wave Review
There are 2 surf breaks: Playa Colorado & Panga Drops
Playa Colorado is famous for its consistent surf and daily barreling conditions. Just like most of the Nicaraguan Pacific coastline, Playa Colorado benefits from clean offshore wind almost every day.
On a surf trip here, you can rest easy, surfing conditions will almost always be perfect. Playa Colorado is an absolute playing field for all types of surfers who want to practice smooth barrel riding on a sandy bottom with smaller crowds than what you’ll find in Costa Rica.
Seasons
Nicaragua has only two seasons. However, October is the only month we wouldn’t recommend a vacation. It usually rains daily and the surf isn’t top-notch.
Wet: May - October
Dry: November - April
The Emerald Coast
AKA: Nicaragua’s Hidden Jewel
The Emerald Coast is one of the only destinations in the world with 300-plus days of offshore winds, due to its fortunate position between Lake Nicaragua — Central America’s largest lake — and the Pacific shores. It was an insider secret amongst diehard surfing enthusiasts, drawn to humble fishing villages like Gigante and Popoyo Beach’s world-class waves. This area is largely undeveloped which makes the beaches pristine and crowds minimal. A true destination for relaxation.
